VIFC (Virtual free classes) – The ongoing COVID pandemic and broad-based closure of schools have hit the marginalized section of our society the hardest. The children in these sections of society are unable to benefit from the emergence of online education accessible to children from other parts of our society. However, awareness and utilization of this growing channel of education are abysmal in these kids as they lack smartphones and reliable internet access.

I-LIGHT GLOBAL aims to bring down these barriers and enable equitable access to education by collaborating with vendors and community members to provide second-hand smartphones with the needed internet access to children for free. During the week, our volunteer instructors run web-based classes teaching elementary school level English and Math using the Google Meet platform, in the evenings. This is complemented by art classes by the renowned artist Dalip Chandolia over the weekend, where the children are encouraged to express their

creativity and experiment with different forms, shapes, and colors to foster a sense of accomplishment and experimentation. The children organically gain exposure to technologies and are taught how to use them responsibly and safely to build knowledge and become well informed global citizens.
